Developing Players for Life: Colorado United's Summer Partnership Creates Opportunities On and Off the Field

At Colorado United, our mission to Develop Players for Life extends far beyond developing technical soccer players. It means creating leaders, mentors, and role models who positively impact the communities around them.
This summer, that mission came to life through an exciting partnership with the Colorado Soccer Foundation and Sheridan Inspire, bringing soccer skills camps to youth in the Sheridan community. While the camps provided young players an opportunity to learn the game in a fun and supportive environment, they also created something equally meaningful: a chance for Colorado United's own high school players to give back.
Today's Players. Tomorrow's Leaders.
A defining feature of this partnership has been empowering our high school athletes to step into coaching and mentorship roles.
Rather than simply coaching, Colorado United Directors intentionally mentored these players throughout the program. Working alongside experienced coaches, they learned how to plan activities, communicate with young players, create positive learning environments, and lead with confidence.
For many, it was their first opportunity to experience the game from the other side of the whistle.
This mentorship model not only strengthens their leadership skills but also helps cultivate the next generation of coaches, educators, and community leaders.
Creating a Lasting Impact
The Sheridan summer camps demonstrate the power of collaboration.
Through the support of the Colorado Soccer Foundation and Sheridan Inspire, children who may not otherwise have access to organized soccer were able to enjoy high-quality coaching, develop new skills, and build friendships in a welcoming environment.
At the same time, Colorado United's high school players discovered the impact they can have when they invest in younger athletes. They became mentors, encouragers, and role models.
The result was a program where everyone grew.
The younger players gained confidence and developed a love for the game. Our high school players developed leadership, communication, empathy, and coaching skills that will serve them for years to come.

A Community Working Together
This initiative reflects what is possible when organizations unite around a common purpose. As Colorado United continues to grow its community Outreach efforts, we remain committed to creating experiences that benefit players of all ages.
We are grateful to the Colorado Soccer Foundation, Sheridan Inspire, our dedicated coaching staff, and especially our high school players, whose enthusiasm and leadership made this summer's camps such a meaningful success.
