> Colorado United Rapids Night

On April 25, 2009 the LA Galaxy come to Colorado for their only visit of the season. Come out to Dick's Sporting Goods Park and show your support for the Rapids and Colorado United. The Rapids are offering tickets to Colorado United teams for just $17 a person. We are encouraging this as a team event and to have all players wearing their Colorado United t-shirts or uniforms. This will be a great game and a great team building event. To order tickets contact Graham Wincott at 303-727-3525 or gwincott@DSGPark.com by April 20th

He also was the Director of Goalkeeping for the Boise Nationals Soccer Club. Brett grew up in Northern Colorado playing soccer for Loveland United and Loveland High School earning All-State, 1st Team All Conference, and Most Valuable Defensive Player recognition. Brett then played college soccer at Northwest Nazarene University where he still holds the GNAC goalkeeping record for Most Saves in a Season (139 Saves). Brett ended his playing career in the Professional Development League playing with the Colorado Springs Blizzard. Colorado United is very proud to annouce Brett as the Director of Goalkeeping and he looks forward to meeting all of the players during the spring season.

> (1.24.09) Bonnie Kazemi inducted into CYS Hall of Fame:

Bonnie was inducted into the CYS Hall of Fame for Lifetime Achievement. She began her involvement with youth soccer in 1973 when she coached her two sons U8 team. In 1977 Bonnie; her husband Hossein, also a Hall of Fame Inductee; along with another couple formed the Littleton Bombers with just one team. It was the first competitive team in the community. Bonnie's also served on the Regional Staff during Colorado first ever USYSA Regional's. She was in charge of the tournament headquarters and team check-in. This was a historic event in the development and growth of youth soccer in Colorado. Bonnie served as the Secretary of the CSYSA Board. Meetings were held at her house, in the basement, and team packets were assembled on the ping pong table. Perhaps Bonnie's most recognizable and far reaching contribution was the Ft. Logan Tournament. She served as co-chair for 25 years and was integral in it becoming one of Colorado's premier events. Not suprisingly, the tournament was established to benefit a worthy charity, the Ft. Logan Mental Health Center. The tournament began modestly making only a $50.00 profit. As profits grew, donations to the Center; along with scholarships to patients and soccer players also increased. A foundation was formed and approximately $500,000.00 has been gifted. The foundation continues to exist and provide scholarships to Ft. Logan patients. This information was taken from the CYS Annual Awards Gala.

> (1.24.09) Kari Spicer 2008 Young Referee of the Year:

Kari Spicer was honored at the Annual CYS Awards Gala on Saturday night as the young female referee of the year. Every year CYS honors a young male and female referee who does outstanding work throughout the year. Kari plays on the U16 Colorado United White team, and we are very proud of her for the exceptional work. Along with this award, Kari was selected to represent CYS at the Far West Regionals in Hawaii to referee. Kari displays the ideals of Colorado United and Littleton Soccer, and we wish her continued successes in the future.
