NOTE: I would strongly encourage ever coach and/or trainer for the first 30 minute of ever training session to do the following “footskills & drills” regardless of your teams objective. If done correctly, your players will touch the ball 2400 time within 30min.
WARM-UPS TOUCHES:
· “Middle” and/or “Foundation“
· “Middle-Sweep”
· “Pull (V) Push”, alternating feet
· “Cruyff-Push”
(All of these moves should be done every training sessions 4 times for 60 seconds each.)
DRIBBLING:
1.) “Outside of the Foot” (when you sprint with the ball)
· “left foot”
· “right foot”
Begin dribbling with the outside of left foot. (toe pointed inward, ankle locked) Pushing the ball forward.
2.) “Inside/Outside of the foot”
· “left foot”
· “right foot”
Begin dribbling the ball with the inside of your left foot on an angle, then take the ball with the same foot (left) with the outside off on an angle in the opposite direction. (a zig-zag format)
TURNING 180 DEGREE, FAKES:
(Dribble out 5 yards then make a 180° turn and/or cut, then return to the starting point. Do at least 5 with each foot.)
1.) “Pull Back”
· “left foot” pullback
· “right foot” pullback
Put your cleat up on top of the ball then pull the ball across your body, always having vision of the ball and the field of play.
2.) “Chop”
· “inside cut”
· “outside cut”
Dribble forward, plant your left foot near the ball and wind up with your right leg like your going to shoot. Instead of shooting you bring your right leg down in a chopping motion to cut the ball backwards across the front of your body.
The outside cut begin the same, but instead of going across your body, your take the ball with the outside of your left or right foot and chop away from your body.
3.) “Scissors 180°”
· “take away inside right foot”
· “take away inside left foot”
Begin dribbling, and then put your weight on your left foot as you swing your right foot up, around and over the ball. Plant the right foot down on the left side of the ball and step down. This is the “stepover” part of the move and will be used in lots of lots of fakes and faints. Using that right foot as a pivot, spin around 180° and take with the inside of your left foot.
AVI clip “take away outside foot”
Slight variation is to take the ball back with the outside of the foot instead of using it as a pivot foot.
4.) “Sweep-Scissors 180°”
· “take away inside right foot”
· “take away inside left foot”
Begin dribbling, then sweep the ball across your body with your left foot as you swing your right foot up, around and over the ball. Plant the right foot down on the left side of the ball. Using that right foot as a pivot, spin around 180° and take the ball back with the inside your left foot.
5.) “Cruyff”
“left foot”
“right foot”
Begin dribbling forward with the ball then plant your left foot near & square to the ball and with your right leg/foot wind up as if your going to shoot. Instead of shooting, bring the right foot down and chop the ball backwards and underneath your left leg/plant foot.
FAINTS TO FAKE AND BEAT THE OPPONENT
(Dribble out about 10 yards make the faint/fake, continue dribbling another 5 yards turn and go back again. Do it 5 times then alternate feet.)
1.) “Lunge then Push”
· “left foot”
· “right foot”
Begin dribbling the ball forwards then abruptly lunge (take a long deep step) with your left foot, (bringing your shoulders down to your lunging knee) to the left of the ball. Plant your left foot hard and take the ball back to the right with the outside of the foot, on the diagonal. Accelerate.
2.) “Chop & Go”
· “left foot”
· “right foot”
Begin dribbling the ball forward and then with the inside of your right foot, chop the ball ever so slightly back to your left foot. (turning your hips square to the ball) Taking the ball with your left foot and accelerate forward.
3.) “Scissors then Push”
· “left foot”
· “right foot”
Begin dribbling the ball forward and stepover and around (clockwise) with your right foot and lunge, then with the outside of your left foot take the ball off on and a angle.
TRAPPING & RECEIVING
1.) “Wedge”
· “inside foot” wedge
· “outside foot” wedge
2.) “Laces”
3.) “Thigh”
4.) “Chest”
